From regional to recognised
A rebrand and positioning built for a university with global ambitions

A young institution competing for attention against names centuries older.
We rebuilt the brand and sharpened the institutional positioning for UM6P, so the university reads as a serious global research contender rather than a regional alternative.
UM6P was founded to become Africa's leading centre for scientific research and innovation. The brand strategy challenge was moving it from a respected national university to a globally credible research institution.
The rebrand centred on a clear long-term ambition: UM6P as the continent's hub for applied research, where education, industry and research work on real problems in agriculture, sustainability, energy and technology — an identity built to read fluently on a global stage while staying rooted in African progress.

What does institutional brand strategy for a university involve?
Positioning, naming and visual identity built to compete for attention, students and research partnerships on a global stage — not just a logo update.
Does UM6P's positioning target multiple African markets?
Yes — UM6P's mandate is explicitly continental, positioning it as a hub for applied research across Africa, not one national market.
